Fireworks - Long Shutter Speed

I do not really get the chance to try and take photographs of fireworks so made an effort to get out and try to take some photos of the fireworks at the pier during the Summer.

It is usually packed with people and so decided against trying to photograph from looking down from the cliffs as I know this is busy with others. I set up on the beach close to the water as I though the slow shutter speeds and waves may make for interesting alternative.

I tired with settings 400 ISO, f8 and shutter speeds from 8-2 seconds. around 4 being the best. The angle of the fireworks meant a lot went off over the top of each other and as a result over exposed the image. I have learnt is more about angles and timing than anything.

Some photos from my attempts
